UAN Facility in Marble Rock | 24/7 Loadout Bay at the UAN Facility in Marble Rock Operational January 16, 2012 - The New Year is just underway and it's time for the last update on the UAN (32 percent) Liquid Fertilizer facility in Marble Rock. January 12 the 24/7 loadout bay for the facility became fully operational and set its sights towards filling loads for United Suppliers. All eight 5,300 gallon chemical tanks have plumbing, are in place and ready to be filled with products. Each tank holds more than a semi-load of chemical and the facility has the ability to add four more chemical tanks down the road. The both retail bays at the facility are expected to be operational February 1 and the blending of starters is slated to begin March 1. Chemicals coming from the UAN plant can be transferred one of three ways: 1) Farmers can bring in shuttles which will be weighed and filled, 2) Trucks or floaters can be filled in the retail bay from the bottom or over the top, or 3) or wholesale customers can use the computerized bay of the facility. |
Eight 5,300 gallon chemical tanks | About this UAN Facility - UAN, also known as 32 percent, stands for Urea Ammonium Nitrate and is a fertilizer that can be used on almost any crop grown in the Midwest. It is widely used for pre-plant and side dressing on corn in this area. This state-of-the-art liquid fertilizer facility is completely computerized and run by the click of a mouse, requiring only one full time and one part time person to monitor and run on a daily basis. The facility has the ability to blend a wide array of starters to meet our customers' needs. Viafield's UAN Facility is a retailer and wholesale fertilizer plant. The facility consists of three load out bays once of which is a 24/7 wholesale load-out bay. Starter holding tank | Past Updates: October 10, 2011 - With harvest in full swing it's time for another update on the UAN (32 percent) plant at our Marble Rock facility. In October four 30,000 gallon tanks to make 10/34/0 starter fertilizer will be put into place. Eight 5,300 gallon chemical tanks will also arrive and put in place; plumbing for both of these tanks will occur shortly after. We now have running power from Alliant Energy inside of the loadout facility. Full power is scheduled to be coming by the end of the month (a picture of the electrical room is shown below). Our multi-car UAN rail is now complete and fully functional. The loadout will have the ability to hook up six cars at a time (see picture).Grading is slated to be done near the end of October/early November before the ground freezes outside the facility. |
Nozzles to chemical tanks for customers to fill shuttles up | January 6, 2011 - Everything is going as expected, with the first 500,000 gallon tank being complete by the middle of January. The second tank will be completed by February 15th, and product will be in the tanks by March 1st. The remaining 2 Million gallon tank will be completed in early spring. Phase 2 will start by mid-summer and finish in late fall. With the completion of this project, your cooperative will be able to better serve your future needs. In today's environment, availability becomes more of an issue than at any other time in history. We truly are a world market whether or not we like it. An example of this can be seen in China. The Chinese use more fertilizer than the U.S., and most is spread by hand. As China becomes more efficient, their internal demand will grow, increasing the importance |
