Lean hog futures finished the trade session on Thursday with losses of $1 to $1.15, as June expired up 17.5 cents at $81.175. The CME Lean Hog Index was up $1.53 to $78.71 on June 12. The USDA pork carcass cutout value was up 71 cents on Thursday afternoon at $82.40. The belly was the strongest component, up $4.56. The national base carcass price averaged $81.86, up 92 cents from the previous day. The USDA estimated week to date hog slaughter at 1.782 million head through Thursday. That is 7,000 head lower than the previous week and well above the same week last year. Weekly export sales of pork were reported at 14,678 MT by the USDA this morning. Export shipments in the week that ended 6/7 were shown at 22,308 MT.

Aug 18 Hogs closed at $78.600, down $1.050
