Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for Wednesday, November 14, 2018
Receipts: 3033 Last Week: 2815 Year Ago: 1675
Compared to last sale: Demand and trade activity moderate. Feeder steers
under 650 lbs traded steady to 7.50 lower, while those over 650 lbs were mostly
3.00 to 8.00 lower. Feeder heifers under 600 lbs traded 1.00 lower to 6.00
higher. Heifers weighing between 600-700 lbs traded 4.00 to 6.00 lower, while
those over 700 lbs were too thinly tested to accurately trend. Slaughter cows
traded mostly steady, while slaughter bulls were 4.00 to 5.00 lower on a light
offering. Replacement cattle were too thinly tested last week to accurately
compare. Today�s offerings were a mix of young calves and yearling that were
coming off grass. The majority received at least spring shots and some fall
shots. Cattle that were weaned with spring and fall shots commanded the highest
demand. In feeder cattle, the run consisted of 54 percent steers, 46 percent
heifers. Approximately 56 percent of the run weighed over 600 pounds. The
total run consisted of 89 percent feeder cattle, 2 percent replacement cattle
and the balance in slaughter cows and bulls. The next available report will be
November 28, 2018.
